Cracked, chipped or shattered glass
Keep people and pets clear of damaged glass and avoid handling it. A glazier can assess the panel and the replacement required for its location.
Call with the type of window or door, your suburb and a description of the damage. A photo taken from a safe distance can help. Do not approach broken glass simply to obtain exact measurements.
Condensation between the panes
Moisture trapped inside a sealed double-glazed unit is different from condensation on an exposed glass surface. The sealed unit may need assessment and replacement.
It does not automatically mean the entire window must be removed. If the surrounding frame remains suitable, replacing the insulating glass unit may be an option.
Draughts, sticking or rattling
These problems can involve worn seals, tracks, hardware, frames or installation details. Replacing sound glass alone may leave the cause untouched.
Describe when the issue occurs and whether the window opens, closes and locks normally. Avoid forcing a stuck sash, especially if the glass is already damaged.
Leaks and damage around the frame
Water near a window can come from more than one source. The frame, seals, surrounding construction and drainage may all need consideration.
Share photographs and explain when the leak appears. The assessment may need to include work beyond glazing; a new pane should not be presented as a guaranteed cure for a building leak.
Planning an upgrade
Renovation plans, privacy, appearance or comfort can also be reasons to discuss new glass. Identify what you want to improve and ask whether the existing frame can accommodate the proposed specification.
Tuggerah Lakes Glass provides glass and window repairs across the Central Coast. Call during business hours to discuss damage and check same-day repair availability, or request a quote for planned work. There are no after-hours callouts.
